Eagle Badges in Idaho
An Eagle Badge is a prestigious honor earned by Scouts in the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) program. Earning an Eagle Badge is the highest achievement a Scout can attain and is a symbol of excellence in Scouting. In the state of Idaho, there are currently over 4,000 Scouts who have earned their Eagle Badge.
In order to earn the Eagle Badge, a Scout must complete at least 21 merit badges, demonstrate leadership, and complete an extensive service project. The service project must be pre-approved by a BSA council, consist of at least 100 hours of work, be completed while the Scout is registered with a troop, and benefit the community in some way. Examples of service projects include building a playground, restoring a hiking trail, or organizing a food drive.
