Digital Meridian Idaho
Digital Meridian Idaho is a state-wide initiative to bring high-speed internet access to every corner of the state. The goal of the program is to provide every resident of Idaho with access to reliable and affordable broadband internet. The program is funded by the Idaho Legislature and the Federal Communications Commission, and is administered by the Idaho Department of Administration.
Digital Meridian Idaho is aimed at increasing access to broadband internet for rural and underserved communities in Idaho. The program provides funding for infrastructure projects that will enable high-speed internet access in areas that don’t currently have access. It also seeks to increase competition among internet service providers, which will help to reduce prices and improve service quality.
The program is divided into two components: the Digital Meridian Idaho Expansion and the Digital Meridian Idaho Connector. The Expansion component seeks to provide internet access to people in rural and underserved areas by expanding existing infrastructure and providing new infrastructure. The Connector component provides subsidies to internet service providers to help them reduce the cost of providing service in rural and underserved areas.
Digital Meridian Idaho is an important step towards providing Idahoans with access to high-speed internet. By increasing internet access in rural and underserved areas, the program is helping to bridge the digital divide and ensure that all Idahoans have access to the same opportunities and resources.
